Cue the Glitter: The Heart Behind Well Taught

Hey y’all! Welcome to Cue the Glitter—the official insights of Well Taught and your new favorite corner of the internet for real talk, inclusive strategies, and a sprinkle (okay, sometimes a pour) of joy into everyday teaching life.

I’m Shelby—a school-based behavior analyst, guidance counselor, and former special educator who’s spent over a decade deep in the beautiful, messy world of education. I've worked as an early interventionist supporting kiddos with functional communication, as a special educator for children with Autism, as a teacher mentor for inclusive practices, and as a behavior interventionist for students with a wild range of wonderfully unique abilities. In short: I’ve been in the thick of it—and I’m still here, cheering teachers on every step of the way.

✨ Why I Started Well Taught

Well Taught was born out of something I kept seeing over and over again: incredible teachers—smart, passionate, deeply caring people—burning out. Not because they didn’t care. But because they cared so much, and were juggling so many needs, with too few tools and too little support.

I’ve seen teachers locked in power struggles with kids who were just trying to feel safe. I’ve seen educators scramble to provide inclusive learning experiences without the proper resources. And I’ve sat with students who had already slipped through the cracks, trying to piece together a future. That’s what broke my heart—and lit a fire in me to do something different.

Well Taught is my response to all of that. It’s here to help teachers feel confident and equipped to handle challenging behavior, create inclusive spaces, and (maybe most importantly?) find joy again in the work they were made to do.
