Who am I

Hey y’all! I’m Shelby—a school-based behavior analyst and guidance counselor who believes the best way to shape the future is by nurturing the little hearts and minds we teach today.

With over a decade of experience in education, I’ve worn a lot of hats: early interventionist specializing in functional communication, special educator for students with Autism, mentor to teachers on inclusive practices, and behavior interventionist for kids with all kinds of superpowers. My work has always centered around helping every student feel seen, supported, and successful.

Academically, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University, a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling from Angelo State University, and a post-master’s certificate in Behavior Analysis from Reykjavik University. I’m certified as a school counselor and a clinical behavior analyst in Iceland (yes, Iceland!).

I started Well Taught with one goal in mind: to help build inclusive classrooms where both teachers and students feel understood, empowered, and joyful in the work they do every day. This platform is a response to what I’ve witnessed firsthand—passionate teachers burning out from power struggles, educators stretched thin trying to support diverse needs, and students quietly slipping through the cracks. Teachers deserve better. Kids deserve better. Well Taught is here to offer real tools, fresh ideas, and a more joyful way forward.

When I’m not dreaming up spontaneous lesson plans or designing classroom supports, you’ll find me planning my next Disney trip, singing and dancing with my daughters, or baking something way too sweet for coffee time with my family.

Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here. 💛
